Bright orange spiny oyster shell and sterling silver combine in this beautiful, traditional maiden ring by Navajo silversmith Bennie Ration. The majority of the piece comprises sterling silver, with a large, rectangular piece of orange spiny oyster is set in a simple sterling silver bezel making up the center of the body. The remainder of the body features a sterling silver rope pattern surrounding the base of the stone, followed by a sterling silver band stamped with fine lines and cut out to give it a scalloped effect, finished with a single row of appliqued sterling dots along each top curve. A sterling silver maiden’s head, complete with deeply grooved rectangular eyes and a round, appliqued mouth, protrudes from the top of the body of the piece. The head is bordered by a sterling silver bun on each side, both stamped with fine lines, representing hair, while the forehead of the piece is also stamped fine lines. Stone and silverwork are set atop a split shank that merges one quarter of the way toward the back. 1 5/8″ long x 7/8″ wide. Fits ring size 7 1/2.
