Navajo silversmith Bennie Ration, known for both his kachina and shadowbox animal pieces, created this adorable frog in the latter style. The piece comprises predominantly sterling silver, set with a single turquoise stone at the center of the back. The stone, set in a simple sterling silver bezel, contains portions of black matrix, and is bordered on each side by elongated triangular cutouts, which create the shadowbox effect. The piece is finished with thin panels of sterling which create the frog’s limbs, as well as appliqued sterling dots, creating the eyes. 1 3/4″ long including bail x 1 7/8″ wide.
