Navajo silversmith Bennie Ration, known for his Kachina pieces, created these maiden kachina earrings out of both sterling silver and turquoise. The top of each earring, just below the French hook, features a sterling silver head, showcasing round, appliqued sterling silver mouth, deeply grooved rectangular eyes, and two sterling silver buns attached, each stamped, as is the forehead, with fine lines representing hair. Hanging below each maiden’s head is a tear drop shaped, blue-green turquoise piece containing portions of brown and grey matrix and set in a simple, handmade sterling silver bezel. Each stone is surrounded at the base by a sterling silver rope pattern. 2″ long including French hook x 3/4″ wide.
