Description
Well-known Santo Domingo potter Robert Tenorio created this traditional jar in his signature style, using muted colors and recognizable patterns. The jar’s centerpiece is a thunderbird, wings outstretched and painted black and red atop the piece’s cream backdrop. The remainder of the top of the piece, above the inflection and on either side of the thunderbird, is painted with cream and black feather designs, while the inflection itself showcases alternating geometric patterns. The bottom of the piece, below the inflection, showcases red and black scallop designs, while the base of the piece is painted entirely red, and the rim, entirely black. In addition to his traditional methods and designs, Robert is also known for polishing his pieces with an egg-white finish, and this piece is no exception. 9 1/4″ tall x 9″ wide.
