Jemez potter Chrislyn Fragua, known for her detailed and life-like storyteller figurines, created this piece in the traditional handmade method. A woman is seated, one child sitting upon her lap and two additional children in her arms, one wrapped in a blanket. Each figure’s mouth is open, as if speaking or singing, while the woman’s cheeks are rosy and her hair twisted, as is the hair of the little girl in her lap, who also holds a basket. The piece is finished with myriad hand painted designs, including step and other geometric patterns, as well as flowers in the woman’s hair. 5 1/4″ tall x 2 3/4″ wide x 4 1/2″ deep.
