Description
The Zuni Rain Priest Kachina, depicted here in a version by Navajo carver Harrison Jones, is said to have power over the rain, but his main purpose is to accompany the Shalako during the Rain Dance. This piece is predominantly black and white, also featuring brown leather along the waist, wrists, and ankles. The kachina holds feathers in each hand, while white fur covers the top of its head and neck. A piece of fabric covers the kachina’s lower half, painted in turquoise, red, black, and white. 10 1/4″ tall x 6″ wide.
