Description
Carved from pine rather than cottonwood root, this lovely Kachina by Navajo carver Robert Platero showcases what he calls a “Starface.” The piece is a beautiful light brown color, burnt in strategic areas to create contrast, such as the tips of feathers, as well as along the eyes and mouth and certain patterns in the clothing. The Starface holds two feathers in each hand, while the piece is lightly carved along nearly the entire surface to add beautiful detail, particularly along the feathers and the star surrounding its face. 10″ tall x 5 5/8″ wide.
